“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” James 1:5-8
One of the most important prayers is asking that God gives us wisdom and understanding. The knowing can come before, during or after our trials. Or it may not come at all. Remember scripture tells us that God’s ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. Sripture also says that we should not lean on our own understanding.
In other words wisdom comes by faith that God is in control and that his outcomes are for our ultimate good. Many times that is the hardest concept to understand when we don’t see the good. Faith is knowing without seeing. A doubting or double-minded person is when their faith diminishes when they don’t see positive outcomes or don’t thank God for the good blessings.
Wisdom comes from the Holy Spirit teaching us through scripture. I am talking about spiritual wisdom and not earthly wisdom. Be steadfast in your faith and trust that God is in control. Always look to the heavenly kingdom in trials and in blessings.
