Self worth is one of the hardest issues to deal with throughout our lives. At anytime we can doubt who we are, what we say, how we look and how we act. I notice that this self doubt is especially prevalent among young adults and teenagers. Much of their identity is based on what other people think or say about them, what sport they play, what grades they get, what clothes they wear, what friends they have and so on. Social media has just compounded the problem.
This is very common among young adults and can cause much conflict in their lives creating low self esteem and imposing self destructive behavior. As a result these young adults do things that go against christian beliefs, such as drug abuse, drinking, promiscuity, etc.
Everything must turn toward your relationship with Jesus. “In all your ways acknowledge him and He will make your path straight” Proverbs 3:6 Everyone needs to remember that God created us to be special in our own way. Each of us was created with purpose, meaning and excellence. God loves us unconditionally. Our identity is not based on things of this world. Focus on your loving relationship with Jesus. Jesus loves you just the way you are. The expectations of this world become insignificant as God shows you his will for you and the path you need to follow. This path does not involve pleasing others or acting a certain way. God loves you the way you are, the way he created you.
Have a Blessed day!
