How do we let the Holy Spirit take over?  One of my favorite verses in the bible is Proverbs 3:5, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding”.  Too often our head, our thoughts, our way of doing things gets us into trouble.  Once again we are not in control.  God is.  We all struggle with this, I know I do.

I struggle with what to do and how to do it without asking God.  Obviously I am not talking about where to sit or what I should have for dinner.  We are talking about financial issues, relationships, and other important aspects of our lives.  I am also talking about our thoughts that lead to sin.  Sin starts with a sinful thought, which in of itself is a sin, but can also lead to sinful words and sinful actions.

To me, prayer is so important in directing our thoughts towards goodness and purity.  Let the Holy Spirit direct you in prayer.  The Holy Spirit is there to show you how to keep your focus on righteousness.  After Jesus died on the cross for our salvation, we were graced by God when He placed the Holy Spirit in us for this exact purpose, to help us in prayer, supplication, and thanksgiving.

Practice with the help of the Holy Spirit to think pure thoughts.  Your words and your actions will follow.  When I find my thoughts deviating from purity, I say a quick prayer such as “The Our Father”.  I feel that it is very helpful.  Also use prayer to ask God to help you with your needs.  Ask for guidance in all your important decisions, with the help of the Holy Spirit.   God will direct you on the path of goodness.

Have a Blessed day!
